Part of their program in advocating for barrier-free environment and dissemination of information about deaf people, MCCID again conducted Basic Filipino Sign Language and Deaf Sensitivity Training to selected social workers and personnel of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Central Office from November 26 – 29, 2019 at Axiaa Hotel, Quezon City.
Dubbed “Basic Sign Language and Deaf Sensitivity Training of Frontline Officers of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Central Office”, Director Jojo Esposa Jr., leads the training team together with deaf co-trainor’s Ervin Reyes and Kennel Alonzo. Around twenty five participants coming from DSWD Central Office in Batasan, Quezon City, learned conversational Filipino Sign Language and became aware of the needs of those who cannot hear and considers their hidden disability.
The activity was under the leadership of Director Wilma Naviamos of DSWD – Program Management Bureau and organized by Ms. Jona Mae Ortega, RSW.
